Shocking Murder in Silvassa: Man Kidnapped from Shop, Found Dead Hours Later
Silvassa, June 17: A shocking incident unfolded in Silvassa, where a man named Janakinath was kidnapped from his mobile shop and later found dead in a field near Galauda. Within hours, Silvassa Police cracked the case, arrested seven individuals, and uncovered a possible revenge motive linked to an old rivalry.
Around 6:45 PM, Silvassa Police received a report of a kidnapping from a mobile shop in the Amli Fountain area. The victim, identified as Janakinath, was allegedly forcefully taken away by a group of individuals. After an urgent search, the victim’s body was discovered in an open field in Galauda.
Swift Police Action
Following the discovery, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered. Multiple police teams were deployed, using CCTV footage and technical analysis to trace a motorcycle seen in the area. This led to the identification of one of the suspects, who confessed and revealed others involved.
Within hours, five suspects surrendered in Nashik and were brought back to Silvassa. All six matched CCTV footage and later confessed to the crime. Another suspect was later caught, bringing the total arrests to seven.
Motive Behind the Crime
The investigation indicates a personal rivalry as the motive. The victim and accused had a history of conflicts. Police sources confirm an old injury incident between them, which may have triggered the fatal retaliation.
Forensic teams are still tracing the murder weapon—a hollow iron rod. At least four arrested suspects reportedly have previous criminal records.
Police Statement and Public Safety
The District Police Chief assured that none of the involved individuals will be spared. He urged citizens to report any threats and emphasized that the police remain committed to maintaining public safety and tackling organised crime across the district.
The case has raised serious questions about rising local crime in Silvassa, but the quick police action has restored some public confidence. The investigation remains active as forensic reports and additional arrests are awaited.
